About Dr. Farkas Dr. Gary Farkas has lived in Hawaii since 1975. Dr. Farkas was raised in New Jersey, where he attended Rutgers College. While at Rutgers, he received a grant-in-aid from the New Jersey Academy of Science, and a Graduate Student Research Fellowship from the Rutgers Medical School, although he was at the time an undergraduate. Dr. Farkas received his masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaii, and pursued postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. Dr. Farkas completed his M.B.A. at the University of Hawaii's College of Business Administration (concentrating on organizational development and marketing) and trained at the University of Virginia's Institute of Law, Psychiatry and Public Policy. In 1981, Dr. Farkas developed the first psychological services program for the Honolulu Police Department. While at HPD, he graduated recruit school and became a sworn reserve police officer. Dr. Farkas has consulted with private businesses and public agencies on the topics of violence in the workplace, employee assistance programs, executive assessment and management coaching. Dr. Farkas testifies in criminal court on issues related to violence prediction and dangerousness, as well as civil court, providing testimony based upon independent psychological evaluations. Dr. Farkas is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified substance abuse counselor, with more than twenty publications in professional journals and books. Dr. Farkas is active in community and professional groups. He currently serves on the Disciplinary Board of the Hawaii Supreme Court. Dr. Farkas was the first Hawaii member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. He has served as the president of the Hawaii Psychological Association, the Hawaii State Mental Health Advisory Council and the Rutgers Club of Hawaii. He was on the Council of Representatives of the American Psychological Association. Rounding out his schedule, Dr. Farkas is engaged in an international experiential study of the flight characteristics of poorly hit golf balls.   Publications and Presentations of Interest Farkas, G.M.
